About this coloring page
Down by their mother's feet, two chicks peck around while she keeps one careful eye on the entire operation. An egg rests on the ground near her tail, which raises obvious questions about who else is coming. One small cloud floats overhead, and grass tufts mark the corners.
The hen carries most of the detail. Her neck feathers scallop like roof shingles and the wing folds back in layers, so she's the spot for your most careful colorer. The chicks are two quick blobs by comparison. Their fuzz takes yellow beautifully.. Give the hen rust and cream, or go speckled if small hands have the focus for dots. Ask who's inside the egg and when they'll hatch. That conversation carries the whole session.
