About this coloring page

Blank canvas alert. The easel in this drawing holds an empty rectangle on purpose, and that's the whole opportunity. Kids draw their own picture inside, then color the scene around it, so one printout turns into a two-part art project. A palette dotted with empty paint wells rests below with a long brush across it, ready for whatever the invented masterpiece needs.

The easel itself is a tripod with a tray ledge, all long wooden strips, an easy warm-brown win while the palette wells soak up every bright you've got. In a classroom, that center rectangle doubles as a frame for prompts. Have students draw a favorite scene from a read-aloud, and suddenly there's an ELA tie-in with built-in wall decor. Expect it to take longer than it looks, in the best possible way, since the draw-your-own part is where kids settle in and stay a while.
