Printable animal coloring pages (PDF)

Click any page below to download a PDF or open the online tool. For A4 printing, use "Fit to page".

If your printouts look cropped or too small, it usually comes down to paper size and scaling. These settings fix most problems.

  • Use "Fit to printable area" for A4 paper. Our PDFs are generated on US Letter size (8.5 x 11 inches).
  • Turn off "Headers and footers" in your browser print dialog if it adds unwanted text.
  • If the page prints gray, switch the printer setting to "Black and white" or "Grayscale".
  • For classrooms, print one master, then copy. It keeps lines crisp and saves ink.

Classroom ideas that work with any animal page

These activities use the printables you already downloaded, plus basic supplies.

Animal habitat diorama (shoebox)

  • Print and color an animal, then cut it out.
  • Tape or glue it into a shoebox.
  • Add a background: grasslands, ocean, rainforest, or desert.
  • Label 3 habitat needs: food, water, shelter.

Parts labeling (quick science tie-in)

  • Pick one animal and print two copies.
  • Use one copy for coloring.
  • Use the second to label body parts with arrows.
  • Add one fun fact students can verify in a book or on a classroom poster.

Story prompt cards

  • Print 4 different animals, then cut them into cards.
  • Students draw 2 cards and write a short story that includes both animals.
  • Add a setting, a problem, and an ending.

Classification sort (mammal, bird, reptile, etc.)

  • Print a mix of animals and color them.
  • Put category labels on a wall or board.
  • Have students place each animal under a category and explain why.
